We hear a lot, but listening is something entirely different. Listening means pausing to pay attention, to weigh what is said, and then to make a decision as to what determinative influence it will exercise upon us. So understood, listening is difficult. Carving out time for it is a challenge to begin with. Pushing away the myriad distractions in order to concentrate is another hurdle. Yet listening is essential to the Christian life.

Interaction mediums like Tumblr don’t actually help with this. They teach you to skim and multitask, which can become such habits it’s exceptionally difficult to slow down and focus on one thing, one person, and simply receive what they’re trying to give.

gentlemysoul-deactivated2012092 asked: Oh! and the reason I couldn't reply directly was because I accidentally published my answer instead of it just going to you, and not all of the people who follow me know that I'm going to be a religious in a few years!
Did I miss the response on your blog? I can’t see it…

To-Do List with an appendix
Yep, I am definitely stressed about the massive amounts of things I have to do and my time deficit. Good thing I love working 15 hour days. Sleep when you’re dead, right?

When you realize your ex-girlfriend is dating your college roommate.

nisicommuni asked: I really appreciate your message and prayers, but I am not being confirmed until next Easter :( Yes, it is a long way away, but it is so well worth it.
Well I am praying for you throughout your entire RCIA process and I expect pictures!

Until today I was the asshole who fully agreed with this videos premise. Today, I resolve to challenge it’s point.
Right now I am on a plane and have already invested $20 in this flight for zero result. 10,000 ft in the air near Nebraska and south Dakota and I am internally irate.
I was disappointed when I realized this plane was not equipped with a tv and consequently no movie for me. Then they announced Internet in flight, I figured my movie hopes could be resorted so I paid $13 for 4 hours of Internet use and figured I could jump on Netflix and be sufficiently amused.
Fail. No Netflix, it can’t download. Then I thought, perhaps iTunes could help me out and rather than stream I can download. So, I logged in and rented a movie that won’t download. FML.
I understand this is high maintenance and I should shut up and read one of 5 books I have with me. I am pissed about wasting $$$ to simply log onto tumblr.
I mean I love you people but I could have waited until this evening.
